Artist Statement

I am a beginning artist hoping to achieve a style of art. So far my weakness is drawing anatomy and pointillism. I will work to improve these and many others. Once I get a tablet, I’m thinking about entering the style of digital art because of my dislike of working with real life media. This will take time and effort, but I will put practice into it. I want to try to enjoy it as well.

Painting isn’t something I enjoy, but is quite easy to do. My favorite type of art is realism and surrealism. I like drawings that look realistic and believable, but I also like drawings that look realistic and unbelievable too. I'd love to draw and create what goes on in my mind, and hope my imagination is captured the way I want it to look.

What I want to work on is realism portraits of people which will be a challenge and a joy to me. However, I need to be confident in my skills to do this. Practice does make perfect, but I don’t practice as much as I should.

I know all the artistic methods; pointillism, hatching, cross-hatching, blending, and scumbling. I don’t particularly have a favorite but I do a good blending and hatching.

My goal as of now is just to have confidence in my skills. Art is not about being right, but expressing yourself through media and colors.

Without art, the world would be a very dull place.
